May 17-18, 2014 – Eagle Ranch Village, Eagle, CO

Many of you have attended the Get Out Expo these past 5 years. Those that checked things out last year saw a bird of a different feather – we added a rockstar expo and bike demo with over 30 of the best brands in the industry, a kiggass XC race dubbed The Firebird 40(ish), a road half marathon and a women’s only MTB race (Firebird la Femme). This year? The same. But better…er.

Back to bother you is the full-on Rocky Mountain Bike and Outdoor Expo. Last year we hosted the very best brands in the bike biz; Pivot, Ibis, Felt, Specialized, Santa Cruz, Niner, Rocky Mountain, Intense and a grip of others. First time visitors to our bucolic secret stash of singletrack, coffee, burritos and beer were handed maps, given both a point in the right direction and a pat on the fanny, and treated with multiple options for hourlong mini MTB jam sessions on some of the best trails in CO, each within short riding distance from town. This year? The maps and trails are still there, but we biggered the list of attending brands (you Lorax fans know what we’re talking about.)

Want to try out the latest Switch or DW-link technology? Rip a 29′er? Session a new 650B Enduro ripper on the aptly named “World’s Greatest” trail? Then this is ground zero, baby. Eagle is where you come in May to pit bike against bike in order to select your backcountry weapon of choice for the coming season.

While we’re on the subject of biggering, fans of last year’s inaugural Firebird 40 (now accepting votes for best number plates EVER) has been gettin’ it’s Zumba/crossfit/TRX/P90X on. The second annual Firebird has morphed from a crazy-fun multiple loop course into an up and down backcountry epic peppered with some of the very best that Eagle has to offer. Competitive and non-competitive riders (awww yeah, there’s a citizen category this year!) will be treated to a large-loop format course complete with aid stations, multiple length options and the best finishing circuit you’ve ever ridden.

More of a runner, you say? The Mother of a Half road half-marathon makes its return and is joined by the Vail Rec District’s Boneyard Boogie trail race on our little weekend stuffed with awesomeness.

Also back? Street Swell’s Franken-bike-a-thon, the Chromoly Chef competition, which pits local shop owners head to head with only a tent full of random bike parts between them.

Attendees will also be treated to a freeĀ skills course courtesy of the Hardscrabble Trail Coalition and Mountain Pedaler, and great live music throughout the weekend and the incredible Rippin’ CHix Mountain Bike Skills Camp hosted by world-renowned skier, cyclist and all-around athlete Allison Gannett (modest fees apply). Visit the schedule page for a complete look at all the weekend has to offer.

That sound good to you? Us too. So free up your weekend, harness your chi and make plans to head to Eagle where the good times are scheduled to roll on May 17 and 18 this spring!
